Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) - Parenting and Communication
VIG is a video feedback intervention to help improve relationships and communication between parents and children. It is available for parents with children of all ages.
VIG practitioners will film the parent and child in specific situations and then identify clips in which they are already 'doing the right thing' to play back to them. The parent is then guided to analyse and reflect on video clips of their own interactions. There is more information about VIG here What is VIG? | AVIGuk (videointeractionguidance.net) and you can find examples of situations in which VIG could help a family here (60) Video Interaction Guidance - YouTube
VIG is offered by the Educational Psychology Service and by FIF. Contact:
* Neelam Kumar for the EP service (on Outlook)
* Sajna Begum for FIF (on Outlook)
Before making this referral, please make sure that you explain to the parent that the intervention involves being filmed with their child as we will need full consent to film both parent and child.
