Family Early Help
If A Family Can Pay for Food But Needs It Collected And Delivered
(only if self isolating due to COVID symptoms, on the shielding list or unwell generally)
Option A: Click and Collect – Cycle Couriers and Help with Collection
Families can order their shopping via Click and Collect, we can arrange a Pedal Me cycle courier to collect it and deliver it to them. Please ask your line manager if you need this (Elaine Crouch holds the Pedal Me account).
We also have a limited number of staff and volunteers with cars who could assist with a weekly shop collection. Please contact your line manager to ask about this for a family.
Option B: Call and Collect/Payment Over the Phone to Store Manager
If the family use a local store (like Spar, NISA, Budgens etc), ask if they can ring the store and order and pay for their food over the phone.
If call and collect, the family calls the store, makes an order and pays over the phone. Family worker or library service volunteer collects shopping and delivers to family.
If payment over the phone, family worker or library service volunteer does the shopping and asks the store manager to ring the family to make a payment over the phone. We must check this is possible before we do the shopping.
Call and collect and payment by phone tend to only work if buying food at local stores like Spar, NISA, Budgens etc so do check first. It is not an option for the major supermarkets.
Option C: Paying with Voucher or Gift Card
Family worker or library service volunteer collects voucher or gift card from family, does shopping and delivers to family. This also works for e-vouchers.
Option D: Paying with Cash
Family worker or library service volunteer collects money from family, does shopping and delivers to family.
This is the least preferred option. If cash arrangement you MUST arrange for the family to sign to say how much money was given, and how much change was received. Please ask your manager if you need this.
