Finance, Bills and Financial Hardship

This section contains information about finances, bills, applying for charitable grants, and what to do to help a family experiencing severe financial hardship.

FSCF service managers can make referrals to the Council's cost of living crisis fund. If you want to make a referral, let your line manager know. Team managers, please contact Tim Cosh, Jess Eneberi, Lauren, or Elaine Dunning to make the referral for you.

What the Crisis Fund Is and Who It's For

The fund is for residents and families facing severe financial hardship and who cannot afford essentials. This might include food, energy bills, water, electricity and housing.

The maximum award for a household of any size is £500 and a household can receive a maximum of two awards in a 12-month period.

The money can take many forms including BACs payments, vouchers, help with debt repayment or equipment that will help reduce costs and/or keep warm this winter.

You can find more information about the Fund here

Eligibility Criteria

  • you must have lived in Camden for at least six weeks. Camden will check the council tax database as proof of residence first. If the family are not registered, they will ask for another form of proof (bill, bank statement, benefit letter etc addressed to you at the address you are claiming for).

  • Must be over 18 to apply, but Camden will accept applications from 16-18 year olds living independently.

  • No more than two payments per household in any 12-month period.
  • The family must be in severe hardship or financial crisis - we would expect that you will already be working the family on income maximisation, connecting them to Welfare Rights and advice services (for example debt advice, legal advice, money management advice etc as needed), or Good Work Camden for help with employment (if needed).

The process can take up to 2-3 days to complete.
