In August 2021, at least 15,000 people were evacuated from Afghanistan by the UK Government. Some were British nationals, some were Afghan nationals.

Here is a slide showing the journey Afghan refugees will have been on, and continue on, since arriving in the UK. Its important we understand this journey so we understand what refugees have been through since arriving in the UK, how they come to be in temporary accommodation hotels in Camden and where their journey might take them next.

The journey to the UK will have been a traumatic and challenging experience, and reminds us that refugees can experience trauma before migration, during migration and after migration. It reminds us to think about, and wonder, what happened at each step of that journey.
