School Holidays - Things To Do

Holiday Activities and Food Programme

A wide range of activities in community settings, for children aged 5-16  with a healthy meal provided. Coordinated by Young Camden Foundation. For: 

  • School aged children from Reception to Year 11 (inclusive) who receive benefits-related free school meals.
  • Children with an EHC plan (education, health, and care)
  • Looked-after children or previously looked after children
  • Children assessed by the local authority as being in need, at risk or vulnerable
  • Young carers
  • Children living in areas of high deprivation or from low-income households who are not in receipt of free school meals.
  • Children in transition phases between nursery and primary school or primary and secondary school

Camden Summer University

The brilliant Summer University is back, this year with a blend of some face-to-face and some online courses and activities including creative arts, music and drama, ICT, fashion, health and fitness, work and study skills and much more. Summer University may also be able to help pay for equipment and materials to help eligible young people take part in some of their courses where these might be needed. For children aged 13-19.

The Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation have launched their summer programme with loads of ideas and activities for young people, including street art, animation, photography, music, cooking, dance and much more. Coram Creative Therapies Online

This was running during COVID, well worth checking if it is running again this year. A summer programme from Coram including online art therapy, music therapy and creative therapy, plus therapeutic parenting. Email [email protected] 

 

The Avalon Motorcycle Project - Mountain Biking

You’ll start with an initial assessment of balance, bike control, body position, foot work, core strength and confidence. We’ll warm up on flat, even ground then progress to the national standard 4X track. You’ll progress through the course at your own pace, once you’ve honed your technique you can move through the whole course. Once you’ve mastered the 4x track we can access the dual slalom and pump track if time allows. During the day you will get expert tuition, on bike set up, weight shift and the Cone movement, track stands, manual and power assisted front wheel lifts, real wheel lifts and pumping. You can be new to mountain biking but must be a confident cyclist.
