Housing Matters
The Care Act 2014 states that the council has the power to enter a person’s property to ensure steps are taken to prevent or mitigate the loss of or damage to moveable property and provide temporary protection of property where it appears to be in danger of loss or damage.
Provisions for moveable property apply when there is a potential danger of loss of, or damage to property. In addition provisions are required to be made for the protection of moveable property when no other suitable arrangements have been made by relatives, neighbours or person with Power of Attorney.

- the personal contents of a house (or other dwelling) including furniture, personal clothing, cash jewellery, valuables
- domestic and any other pets owned by the person
- cars and other forms of transport including bicycles, motorbikes and motorhomes
- perishable items such as fresh food and short dated other food items to be disposed of
