Deep Clean / Decluttering Service / Hoarding

From March 2026, Camden Council is implementing new Council-wide contracts to support people impacted by hoarding behaviour and/or self-neglect.

Specialist Hoarding Support Service

Provider: Hoarding UK

This service focuses on addressing the psychological and behavioural causes of hoarding and offers structured, therapeutic, and educational support to residents and professionals.

Key features:

  • Specialist therapeutic programmes addressing the root causes of hoarding behaviour - Healthy Homes Programme.
  • One-to-one and group support for residents, helping to build coping skills and confidence.
  • Peer support groups and access to telephone support
  • Training for Camden Council staff and partners to enhance trauma-informed practice.
  • Expert input to develop consistent approaches and share learning across services.

Referral criteria:

Note - places on the therapy programme are very limited. 

It is likely that there will only be 10 places every 12 weeks. The following are guide criteria for who will be accepted:

  • Residents with a history of cyclical hoarding and decluttering.
  • Where risks have been escalated to a heightened concerns raised by the GP, LFB etc.
  • Residents with levels of hoarding at Level 5 or above on the Clutter Rating Scale.
  • Anyone with harmful hoarding patterns who might not fit these criteria but may have urgent need for this limited resource.
