This service focuses on reducing environmental risks and restoring safe living conditions. It is suitable where the priority is to make a home habitable, improve safety, or enable urgent interventions such as hospital discharge or essential property repairs.

• Person-centred, non-judgemental, trauma-informed practice.
• Individually tailored deep cleans and decluttering based on assessed need.
• Removal of hazards and waste to reduce fire risk, falls, infestation, or blocked exits.
• Safe disposal and recycling of items, ensuring environmental responsibility.
• Support to make homes safe, healthy, and functional, promoting wellbeing and independence.
• Urgent interventions to facilitate hospital discharge or enable critical housing repairs.
• Aftercare: at least one follow-up visit for every resident, focusing on maintaining a safe space and preventing relapse into hoarding.

Referral criteria:

Use this service where there is a need for practical cleaning, risk reduction, or access restoration — particularly in cases of hospital discharge, safeguarding, or unsafe environmental conditions.

This service can also be used to work with residents who don’t meet the criteria for the therapeutic service, but who require a more gradual de-cluttering service, working at the resident’s pace.
