Domestic Violence/Racial Harassment referrals

Purpose

This procedure describes the actions to be taken in the event of any known Domestic violence and /racial harassment referrals

Responsible

All Staff

Process

The Sheltered Estate Management Team and the District Housing Offices may decide that customers of theirs who are suffering from domestic violence will need the Careline service, for reasons of safety and security.

This arrangement is usually on a temporary basis, pending the problem being resolved (e.g. through transfers, injunctions etc.).

The Police recommend that the reassurance tones on the alarm should be taken out for security reasons. However, some customers may prefer the tones to be left on so always check at point of installation and inform the Contact Centre as necessary.

Domestic Violence and Racial Harassment referrals are installed on the Silver service, monitoring basis only. Careline will not visit.

Obtain a cost-code from the officer making the referral and enter this on the installation finance form.
