Assessment of and Installation KPIs
Purpose
This procedure sets out the actions required to ensure that the installation of any equipment will minimise and manage daily risks whilst improving the quality of day to day living.
The installation of equipment is an integral part of the service pathways and encompasses much more than the setting up of equipment. The process begins when a referral is received and continues beyond the installation itself, through to re-evaluation and review.

Careline to undertake the installation of the appropriate equipment within a defined time period of a complete plan being received.
Definition
Service set-up covers:
- The set-up
- Installation maintenance
- Repair
- Withdrawal of equipment in the user’s home
URGENT: Installation required to support the user e.g. discharge from hospital/ care home or the imminent collapse of a care package.
Key Outcomes
- To adopt a holistic approach to meeting individual need through a process of initial assessment which is subject to continual review.
- To ensure that service users an carers are actively involved at every stage of the installation process, from referral to re-evaluation, and will be supported to making choices related to the way in which the service is delivered.
- To ensure equipment is installed safely and in line with relevant legislation and manufacturer guidelines.
Key Performance Indicators
Referral
- 5 out of 10 referrals completed within 2 working days
- Remaining referrals processed within 5 working days
Installation of AT
- 9 out of 10 urgent installations completed within 2 working days of initial referral
- Remaining installations to be completed within 5 working days of initial referral
- 9 out of 10 non-urgent installations completed within 15 working days of initial referral
- Remaining installations completed within 20 working days of initial referral
- 9 out of 10 complex installations completed within 15 working days of initial referral
- Remaining installations completed within 20 working days of initial referral
Repairs
- 9 out of 10 critical faults (i.e. where user safety is compromised) repaired or equipment replaced within 24 hours of the fault.
- 9 out of 10 non-critical faults repaired or equipment replaced within 5 working days of the fault being reported
- Remaining non-critical faults repaired or equipment replaced within 10 working days of the faults being reported
