AT, OT, and Equipment
Just Checking is a system that uses technology to monitor a person's activities at home to ensure they are safe. The system supports people to remain independent and live at home.
It can be used for many purposes, such as to:
- provide evidence of a person’s abilities and identify where they may need support
- facilitate hospital discharges so that care is targeted in the right place
- make an accurate assessment of a person if they live alone or if they have dementia
How does the system work?
The equipment includes various discreet sensors, such as door and movement sensors that are easily installed around the home. Movement sensors can be attached to everyday objects such as a kettle, or a showerhead, using Velcro pads. There are no cameras involved. Movements are picked up via a hub that is plugged into a mains socket. The hub has its own roaming mobile SIM, so the system does not require a phone line or wifi.
The system provides a summary report of daily activity. It can tell you when the front door was opened, when the home was unoccupied and for how long, when the person went to bed and got up, when they went to the kitchen to use the kettle, and so on.
How do I access summary reports?
Reports can be viewed securely online, or via the Just Checking app.
How much does it cost?
The system is available for Camden staff at no cost to the people that are being supported.
