Information for CSFH practitioners

Information for CSFH practitioners

Induction is a planned programme of events designed to introduce new workers to an organisation and prepare them to carry out their role.

Starting a new job can be an anxious experience and you may feel a little disorientated. We want to make sure that you have the time and space to find out about Camden and your new role and meet the people you’ll be working with.

All new workers to CSFH must have a 6 week period of induction that introduces them  to Camden and helps them prepare to take up their role. Every new worker will have an induction plan that sets out a timetable of events and activities designed to help them settle into their role. For an overview of our induction practice please see the Induction policy.

All new permanent workers (not agency workers) will be subject to a probation period of 6 months (or 12 months for newly-qualified social workers who are subject to a 12 month probation period during their Assessed and Supported Year of Employment) during which they are assessed and supported to develop their skills so that they are able to fulfil their role. More information on the probation period is available on Essentials.

Information for new staff

New staff joining CSFH (including agency workers) need to know what to expect from their induction programme and to work closely with their manager to implement their induction plan. For more details see the Induction handbook for staff.

Information for managers

Managers are responsible for induction, including drawing up induction plans and monitoring progress in implementation. For more details see the Induction handbook for managers.

Induction plans should be recorded using the template and should be completed with the new worker when they first join.

Managers are also responsible for completing the induction checklist which should be placed on the worker's personal supervision file within 3 months of them joining.

Managers need to make sure new staff are aware of the relevant administrative and finance procedures and have an opportunity to meet with service co-ordinators to go through these procedures.
