Social work supervision

Social work supervision

Supervision enables practitioners to operate in a safe and supportive environment that promotes good practice, allows reflection and aids continued professional development leading to improved practice. It also provides critical management oversight of case-work and decision-making and is a key element of quality assurance.

Camden's policy is that all practitioner staff receive regular supervision.

It is essential that staff and managers are aware of the standards and requirements of practitioner supervision contained in the Social work supervision policy.

Camden's supervision practice should be relational: for details on please see the Supervision and Relational Practice guidance.

Practitioners and managers may find it helpful to conduct live supervision to observe practice, for example during home visits or assessments. In these cases all staff should be aware of the Live supervision guidance.
