Human Resources (HR) and staffing
Social workers, supervisors and managers need to be aware of the council's policies on sick leave and annual leave.
The Sickness Reporting Procedure provides information for workers and managers on how sick leave needs to be reported, recorded and monitored. Social workers should report to their supervisor or manager that they will be off sick by 9 am.
Camden provides a range of paid and unpaid leave to support staff to balance work and other life demands. For more information on the different types of leave available please see the Essentials Leave page. Annual leave requests must be agreed in advance with the supervisor or manager.
It is acknowledged that due to the nature of the work, social workers may be called on to work out of hours and at weekends. Where this happens, social workers should record any extra hours they work and speak to their supervisor or manager to agree time off in lieu (TOIL). All TOIL must be taken within one month of the extra hours being accrued to avoid these building up. This is to ensure the wellbeing of staff.
