Camden is responsible for the health and safety of employees but all employees have an individual responsibility to follow guidance set down by the council for their own safety and protection.
This is particularly pertinent for social work staff who may face extra risks arising from their role working directly with the public.
All council employees should be aware of the council's Health and Safety policy that provides information on assessing work-place risks and taking action to reduce risks.
Everyone has a responsibility for their own health and safety, and team managers, service managers and Heads of Service are responsible for risk assessments for team members and service areas.
All social workers and managers should be aware of the Lone working and staff safety policy that sets out procedures for assessing risk from individual service users and actions to be taken to ensure the safety of social workers when working alone and carrying out home visits. A case risk assessment should be carried out for every case on allocation.
Incidents and accidents must be reported to Risksured so that the council is able to monitor risk.
