Assessment policy and practice

Assessment is a key process that allows social workers to make sense of the child’s situation and the nature and extent of their needs, so they can make a professional judgement on the best intervention to safeguard and promote the child’s welfare.

An up to date chronology should be part of all MOSAIC case files that have progressed beyond assessment.

Practitioners should follow the CSFH Chronologies practice guidance for information on when to begin chronologies and what information should be included. The chronology template is available on MOSAIC.
