Family Group Conferences (FGCs)

Family Group Conferences (FGCs)

FGCs are specialist meetings that allow families to get involved in making decisions and plans and resolving issues. For looked after children FGCs can help families explore alternative care arrangements for children and agree support for family and friends carers.

The FGC service in Camden provides specialist support to families and social workers to help them organise family meetings in order to plan for children's care.

The FGC service is managed by Rob O'Grady and provides independent co-ordinators who are allocated to each FGC in order to help social workers and families get the best out of the process. The co-ordinator will work with the social worker and families to make arrangements for the meeting and can act as facilitators at the meeting.

The service principles are informed by the Family networks and family group decision making policy.
