Family and friends care for looked after children

Family and friends care for looked after children

Where a child is looked after by Camden, Camden will always explore the possibility of the child being cared for by a family and friends carer in the first instance. Where a suitable family and friends carer is identified, they will be assessed and approved as a Camden foster carer for the child.

Where children are looked after, the Family, Friends and Fostering service will work jointly with CLA social workers to assess the suitability of the family and friends carer to become their foster carer and to care for them on a  long-term basis.

For details, please see theĀ Placement with connected persons policy.

The steps to achieve this are set out in the CLA family and friends procedures.
