Children looked after and care leavers
When a child is placed with foster carers or residential placement social workers should ensure that there is clarity on what decisions for the child’s care have been delegated to the carer and any decisions that must be made by Camden or parents.
The placement agreement meeting should be an opportunity for a discussion between social workers, foster carers or residential workers and parents about who can make which decisions.
Social workers should refer to the Delegating authority to foster carers and residential workers policy and the further guidance in the Delegating authority to foster carers practice guidance.
Any agreement on delegating authority should be recorded on the delegated authority checklist.
