Partnership working

Partnership working

Social workers need to work in close collaboration with IROs and the professional network in the child protection arena in order to manage risk and safeguard children.

IROs can provide advice and expertise on CP matters and will also chair CP conferences to ensure independent scrutiny.

The role of the IRO is set out in the Working with IROs on child protection cases policy. It covers their role in providing advice and expertise on CP matters and their role as independent conference chairs, and sets out how social workers should work in partnership with them on CP cases.

Each team has an allocated IRO with whom social workers can seek advice on issues such as child protection thresholds and procedures.
