Harmful sexual behaviour and peer abuse

Harmful sexual behaviour and peer abuse

Sometimes children may be the perpetrators of abuse against other children, and sometimes the perpetrator is also a victim of harm and abuse. It is Camden's policy that victims are protected and perpetrators are helped to understand and take responsibility for abusive behaviour whilst being supported to address issues driving the behaviour.

Child on child abuse is where a child or young person is bullied, abused or exploited by peers of a similar age and where the victim and perpetrator are both under 18. It involves deliberate, harmful behaviour targeted at the victim that can put them at risk of significant harm.

For further information on child on child abuse and how it should be dealt with please see the Child on child abuse guidance.
