Students, ASYE and mentoring
All newly qualified social workers joining Camden will be provided with support for their first year under the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme.
The ASYE programme has been devised to provide support and learning opportunities to newly qualified social workers (NQSW) so that they can gain knowledge, skills and build their confidence during the first year of their employment and are able to meet the standards for this level under the Professional Capabilities Framework as set out in the BASW guidance.
Camden is part of the North Central London Social Work Education Partnership that provides the ASYE programme. The aim of the programme is to ensure that newly qualified social workers get the support they need to develop their practice in a safe working environment.
The programme is delivered in Camden by the ASYE co-ordinator and specially trained experienced social workers who have qualified as Practice Assessors and who are allocated to every ASYE to provide support and who will assess the social worker's progress over the 12 months of the programme.
The ASYE handbook sets out the programme structure, providing information for newly qualified social workers and Practice Assessors.
