Students, ASYE and mentoring

This section sets out the support for those students and social workers who are just starting their career.

Camden offers high quality placements for social work students with support and direction from practice educators, experienced social workers who have been trained to supervise and assess students in placement.

Students applying to Camden will spend some time in CSSW to gain experience of working with children and families and will be allocated a practice educator who will supervise their work, offer support and will be involved in assessing their progress.

Prior to being accepted, students will be interviewed by a practice educator to assess their suitability and motivation and practice educators should be aware of the Pre-placement meeting information that sets out how the interview should be conducted.

Students and practice educators should be aware of Camden’s Practice Learning Guide and at the start of every placement should meet to complete the student induction checklist.

Student placements at Camden aims to ensure students are able to meet the standards for this level under the Professional Capabilities Framework as set out in the BASW guidance.
