Induction and probation

Induction and probation

Induction is a planned programme of events and learning designed to introduce new workers to Camden and prepare them to carry out their role.

Probation is the period at the beginning of employment where workers are assessed and supported to ensure they are able to meet required standards and fulfil their role.

Managers are responsible for implementing the division’s induction policy and drawing up and implementing a suitable induction plan for new social workers and personal advisors.

The induction handbook for managers sets out expectations for managers around induction practice and for planning and delivering induction.

Managers are also responsible for making sure the induction checklist is completed as a record that all aspects of induction have been covered. The checklist should be completed within 3 months of the worker joining and kept in their personal supervision file.
