All social workers are required to attend core training as part of their role and to ensure their continued professional development. Core training represents the areas of practice expertise and standards expected of social workers working in their specific field and at that complexity.
In some service areas, some aspects of training are mandatory in order to practice in this service area. Some mandatory training, for example supervisory skills, needs to be refreshed on a regular basis.
Social workers and supervisors should also be aware of mandatory induction training.
