Becoming a Camden social worker
Camden encourages applications from a wide range of people with differing skills who wish to train as a social worker, and uses the following routes into social work to enable this:
Camden is a partner in Frontline, a programme offering an intensive course of training for graduates wishing to train as a social worker. CSSW and Adult Social Care offer placements for Frontline social workers to gain knowledge and experience through frontline work whilst providing intensive training and support. More details about the programme are available here:
Step up to social work is a Department for Education initiative to encourage people to retrain as social workers through part time study and work placements with local authorities. Camden has signed up to offer placements in partnership with Islington in 2023. Visit the website for more information.
Camden offers social work apprenticeships to current employees who meet the eligibility criteria. Staff who are interested in a social work apprenticeship can be nominated by managers for a place on social work training courses offered by Kingston University. Learning is a mixture of remote, independent learning and attendance at college. During this time staff will be working in social care placements in Camden. The scheme is run by CSSW and Adult Social Care who will provide support for apprentices.
