About the Children and Learning Academy

Welcome to the Camden Children and Learning Academy. The information here sets out Camden's offer to social workers in order to help them develop and progress their career and achieve a high standard of professional practice that makes a difference to children's lives.

Camden's Children and Learning Academy provides the framework for delivering Camden's priorities for a highly skilled children's workforce in order to achieve high standards of practice that facilitates good outcomes for children and families.

The aims of the Academy are to:

  • maintain a stable social care workforce that is highly skilled and able to deliver high quality services;
  • provide a safe, stable and supportive work environment underpinned by a clear model of multi-systemic social work practice;
  • ensure a diverse, multi-skilled workforce utilising all its skills via a range of recruitment strategies and entry points to the profession;
  • provide social workers with opportunities for individual learning and professional development linked to clear pathways for career progress;
  • deliver on Camden’s objective to be a learning organisation in pursuit of excellence;
  • champion the role of the social worker within the division and the council.
