Risk assessment

Risk assessment

Risk assessment is the process of gathering information in order to identify sources of safeguarding risk, evaluate the likelihood of that risk causing harm to children, and deciding on what action to take to eliminate or reduce the risk.

There are a number of risk assessment tools based on the specific type of risk or the child's circumstances that are available to social workers.

Risk assessment tools for child criminal exploitation and child sexual exploitation are available on MOSAIC.

Risk assessment tools for domestic abuse are available in the Domestic Abuse and Family Violence section.

The pre-birth risk assessment tool is available.
