Analysis and chronologies

Analysis and chronologies

Analysis is the process of making sense of the information gathered during the assessment and allows social workers to construct a coherent story of the child’s life.

Chronologies are a key part of collecting and collating information on family history and providing evidence of outcomes from interventions and can help social workers identify key patterns.

Analysis is an objective process that allows social workers to use the information gathered to build, test and refine hypotheses to explain what is happening in the family and in the child’s life and explore the processes that are bringing the situation about.

Research in Practice has produced a number of research briefs on analysis and critical thinking for social workers and supervisors.
